After 18 years doing research in USA, Doctor Félix Bastida Corcuera returned to Bizkaia from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he had been working at the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine/School of Sciences. Currently, he is working at Vacunek S.L., the Neiker-Tecnalia biotech spin-off specialising in animal and veterinary biosciences. Doctor Bastida is the Managing Director of Vacunek, a company that develops products for the diagnostics, treatment and prevention of livestock diseases. Doctor Bastida is an expert in molecular biology, proteomics, fluorescence microscopy, basic and applied research into microbiology and immunology, growth and analysis of bacterial strains, tissue culture techniques and monoclonal antibody production.
