Bizkaia talent together with the Cenarrusa Foundation for Basque Culture has opened the call for applications to participate in the first edition of the Leadership Program for Building Basque American Partnerships 2016, which intends to be a platform to develop the knowledge about the business, scientific, technological, institutional and cultural reality of Bizkaia and the United States of America/Canada.
During the mission carried out in July 2015 in the area of Idaho, USA, the President of the Territorial Council of Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria and Ivan Jimenez, managing director of bizkaia talent, presented the Leadership Program for Building Basque American Partnerships 2016.
In order to carry out this initiative, the Territorial Council of Bizkaia and the Cenarrusa Foundation for Basque Culture, an organization involved in promoting and funding Basque culture in Idaho, entered into a collaboration agreement.
This agreement aims at building bridges and strengthening links between highly qualified people with high professional growth potential through the Leadership Program. The participants from both territories will have direct contact on the site with the most important organizations/institutions. This will enable the development of the participants’ talent and leadership as well as the ties between both territories and between all the participants throughout their entire professional career.
Likewise, the program aims at creating a community of participants to exchange knowledge, ideas and good practices and to establish economic, cultural, scientific and institutional relations between both territories.
The first edition of the Program comprises 12 preparation weeks, between 10 and 15 or 21 days of transatlantic exchange according to the participation mode and a lifelong opportunity for Basque and American engagement and cooperation.
During the preparations, participants will learn about Basque and American relations, will expand their knowledge about the communities they visit and will identify their leadership development objectives. Preparations include a welcome call; compulsory and recommended reading on the culture, the economy, the institutional and the scientific-technological reality of the host territory; webinars and surveys; tutorials with coordinators and a final meeting before the exchange period.
During the foreign visit period, participants will have the opportunity to meet key decision and opinion makers. The group itinerary takes up most of the program and there will also be joint stays of both Basque and American participants. Likewise, there will be time for individual appointments so as to allow fellows to pursue their personal interests and to meet at least one relevant representative of an organization in the field or sector in which they work.
