The first students from the “Study & Work in Biscay-Basque Country” program arrive in Bizkaia

  • This is a program which focuses on specialized training and the creation of opportunities in the province to cover the demand for STEM profiles.

Bizkaia Talent, in collaboration with UPV/EHU (Basque Country Public University), the University of Deusto and Mondragon University, has developped the “Study & Work in Biscay – Basque Country” program within the framework of the “Bizkaia with the talent” strategy of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. This program was launched as a response to the existing imbalance between supply and demand in terms of STEM profiles in Bizkaia, promoting the arrival of young professionals who can gain education at local universities and become specialized in technical fields which are in demand by local companies.

For this edition for the academic year 2024/2025, a series of Masters with high rates of employability in the labour market have been selected which the participating international students, most of whom come from Latin America, are currently enrolled on. Amongst these academic training courses are the Master in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (UPV/EHU), the Master in Computing and Smart Systems (Deusto University), the Master in Data Analysis for Business Intelligence (Mondragon University), asnd the Master in Advanced Electronic Systems (UPV/EHU).

The program includes a nine-month training itinerary during the course of which the students will not only acquire technical knowledge, but they will also be integrated into the professional environment by means of work placements and dual programs in Bizkaia companies.

The aim of the “Study & Work in Biscay-Basque Country” program is to create the necessary conditions for the people participating in the program to be able to find opportunities in local companies and consider settling down in Bizkaia with their professional careers and life projects.

Welcoming event
Bizkaia Talent recently held a welcoming event for the students at which they were introduced to the support services which will be available to them, amongst which the Be Basque Ambassadors program stands out. This program is designed to facilitate their adaptation and connect them to the province’s business ecosystem. By means of this program they will have the opportunity to participate in training workshops, visit cutting-edge companies and attend socioculutural events designed to assist with their integration within the local community.
