Bizkaia university students collaborate with companies from the province to improve their selection processes
- A group of a hundred Generation Z youngsters have participated in the Bizkaia Talent Skillathon event to help to improve the selection processes of six Bizkaia companies.
On the 18th, 19th and 20th March Bizkaia Talent carried out a new edition of Skillathon at the La Perrera building. This dynamic, featuring within the framework of the Talentia Skills programme, brought together a select group of Bizkaia students, regarded as the students with the greatest potential from the three Basque universities, in order to confront a real challenge.
The challenge this year consisted of designing a staff selection process in line with the expectations of Generation Z, enabling the companies to adapt their recruitment practices to satisfy the needs and preferences of this new generation of talent.
Companies such as Ormazabal, Maier, Lifra, Tellmewow, Satlantis and Fineco – Kutxabank Private Bank joined up for the initiative. Their representatives shared with the students their current recruitment practices before the youngsters got down to work. The students, split into multidisciplinary groups of different academic disciplines, used the Design Thinking methodology (empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test) to design the ideal selection process, in order to then present their proposals to the companies.
Skillathon not only provides the students with a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real company environment, but it also enables the participating companies to receive new and innovative ideas from the forthcoming new generations.
