The Minister for Economic and Territorial Development in Bizkaia, Mr Imanol Pradales presided over the awards ceremony of the diplomas of the various different Talentia programmes in the auditorium of the University of Deusto, accompanied by the vice rectors Víctor Urcelay (University of Deusto), Patxi Juarista (UPV/EHU University) and Jon Altuna (Mondragon University), and by Ms Idoia Postigo (Bilbao Metropoli 30), Ms Mª Pilar Gonzalez Marcos (College of Chemists and Chemical Engineers), José Tesán Alonso (College of Civil Engineers of Roads, Canals and Ports) and Araceli Cámera (College of Economists).
After a welcoming speech by Mr Jesús Riaño, Alumni Director at the University of Deusto, it was the regional minister’s turn to take the floor. Mr Pradales praised the long and successful service which Talentia has been providing through its numerous different intitiatives and its contribution to the creation of a network made up of over 1500 top level professionals: “In a global world, and in a small nation such as ours, it is fundamental to be able to count on support networks. From now on, all of you form part of the Talentia Network which has an enormous potential and future capacity just as it does right now”.
A new programme to join those which have already been consolidated
This year the Be Basque Ambasadors programme joins the other tried and tested Talentia programmes which focus on the appropriate work insertion and professional development of students with the greatest potential, as well as the Skills for Professionalism programme which focuses on the development of the transversal skills required by the labour market.
The aim of Be Basque Ambassadors is to help students and ex-students from abroad with their social and labour market integration in our country and to encourage them to ast as Basque Country ambassadors should they choose to persue their professional careers in another part of the world, thus maintaining the contact and feeling of belonging with our country for the rest of their lives, all of which links up perfectly with the Bizkaia Talent “Be Basque” strategy.
