    BC3 is a Research Centre on the causes and consequences of climate change. Led by one of the most recognized scientists in the Climate Change field -Prof. Maria José Sanz, we produce multidisciplinary knowledge to support decision making towards sustainable development at the international level.

    With a multidisciplinary team, connected to the main scientific institutions, networks and socio-economic agents, for a decade, our contribution to research of climate change and to the science-policy interface puts us in a unique position to offer knowledge, tools, new methodologies and cross-cutting proposals, that we lead towards action in a collaborative framework with stakeholders, to design and help implement policies aimed at sustainable development.



    Main functions

    The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3), is looking for motivated field technicians to support the research activities of Research Line (RL) 3 on Terrestrial Ecosystems in the context of the European Research Council (ERC Consolidator Grant) project GorBEEa (ID: 101086771), led by Dr. Ainhoa Magrach. This is a 5-year research project funded by the ERC that will be developed at the ‘Global change impacts on ecosystem functioning’ lab, and within the framework of the Terrestrial Ecosystems Research Line (RL3).

    About the Project:

    This position is part of the ERC Consolidator Grant GorBEEa “Understanding biodiversity-ecosystem function and biodiversity-stability relationships across spatial and organizational scales” led by Ainhoa Magrach.

    The project seeks to understand the drivers of functional stability at different levels of organization, to understand the feedback loops that enable biodiversity to be maintained. GorBEEa combines multiple disciplines, from the use of theoretical network developments to predictive models, experimental approaches and empirical observations integrated in a framework to predict the consequences of different perturbations for natural communities and to provide input for future policy actions aiming at the conservation of functional landscapes. To this end, the project used plant and pollinator communities and their interactions as model system. For more information on the project, click here.

    The main aim is to collect data on plant-animal interactions, pollinator behavior and plant reproductive success.

    Job Description:

    We are looking for field technicians to record data on plant animal interactions, collect insect specimens and record plant reproductive success in the area of Gorbea Natural Park. The candidates should have a strong background in field work and plant identification. Insect identification is an asset. We are looking for individuals who can lead data collection for either a 5 or a 7-month period as well as store samples and organize material in the lab at BC3 headquarters in Leioa, Bizkaia.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • To collaborate in leading field campaigns in natural ecosystems to record plant-animal interactions.

    • To collaborate in initial treatment of insect samples in the laboratory.

    • To collaborate in initial identification of different insects.



    Requisites

    Main Requirements/Skills:

    • Master of Science or equivalent in Biology, Environmental Sciences or similar.

    • Motivation, curiosity, creativity, strong ability for problem-solving through critical analytical thinking.

    • Keen interest in plant and pollinator communities.

    • Ability to work with a high degree of independence.

    • Good communication skills, fluency in English, sense of teamwork and commitment to high-quality research.

    • Drivers license and previous experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle.

    • A good physical condition, in order to carry out field campaigns.

    • Plant identification knowledge.

    Desirable Skills:

    • Previous experience working in similar projects.

    • Previous experience with liquid nitrogen and dry ice manipulation.

    • Ability to work with a high degree of independence.

    • Good command of Spanish and potentially Basque is not indispensable but desirable because the fieldwork will be carried out in a rural area in the Basque Country.

    Main functions

    Estamos buscando un/a Ingeniero/a de Utillajes y Procesos para colaborar en el desarrollo de los procesos de fabricación de componentes aeronáuticos.

    • Experiencia en diseño mecánico CAD 3D/2D, valorándose especialmente el manejo de Siemens NX.

    Main functions

    We offer a PhD position in Molecular Quantum Physics, oriented to the nanoscale investigation of quantum states of molecules using low-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy. 

    The PhD Project will study the interaction of magnetic molecules with superconducting platforms, aiming to coherently manipulate their spin states.

    The expected research will combine electronic quantum transport with microwave spectroscopy, using a scanning tunnelling microscope at low temperatures. This approach holds great promise for controlling quantum states at the level of individual electron spins.

    The PhD student will grow graphene-based magnetic molecular architectures on novel superconducting platforms and study their spin dynamics, with the goal of uncovering new concepts, methods, and strategies for quantum state manipulation. 



    Requisites

    The successful candidate is expected to hold a Master's Degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field; to have demonstrated background in experimental condensed matter physics, nanoscience, or a closely related discipline, and programming skills and experience with scientific software packages (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for data analysis and simulation.

    Previous experience with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), low-temperature experimental setups, or single-molecule spectroscopy will be  advantageous. 

    Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to present research findings effectively.

    Main functions

    Requisites
    • Formación: Ingeniería (preferiblemente mecanizado, mecatrónica o mecánica).

    • Experiencia: más de 5 años desempeñando funciones similares en empresas de mecanizado.

    • Idiomas: Ingles B2.

    • A nivel personal: persona proactiva y creativa, con orientación al logro y cliente, y capacidades para tomar la iniciativa y el trabajo en equipo.

    Main functions

    Para proyecto en un importante cliente, referente mundial en el Diseño y Fabricación de Turbinas de Gas aeronáuticas, deseamos incorporar un/a Ingeniero/a de Fabricación, siendo muy valorable la experiencia en el desarrollo de componentes de chapa (sheet metal).

    We are looking for an Experienced Researcher who can support the project in sustainability assessment of batteries and electronic devices (prospective LCA, LCC, S-LCA). The researcher will be participating in specific scientific tasks, as well as diverse project management duties and collaborative work, communication and dissemination activities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • To develop a life cycle sustainability assessment method (LCSA) to cover the evaluation of the circularity and criticality of raw materials of the company batteries and electronic devices.

    • To review environmental policy and regulations.

    • To provide feedback for ecodesign of emerging technologies.

    • To support on project management, dissemination and communication.



    Requisites
    • PhD in Environmental Science, Industrial Ecology, Physics, Engineering or related.

    • Must have 4+ years’ experience in life cycle (sustainability) assessments and inventory modelling.

    The researcher’s work will be related in the development and implementation of multi-physics models for lithium ion and lithium metal batteries.

    Yo will join the Storage Systems Unit, working on knowledge generation and industrial projects. They must be capable of carrying out several lines of research simultaneously, optimising resources and maximising results.

    You will join a team led by a line manager, working independently according to a defined work plan involving both technical and managerial activities.

    Your work will focus on the following activities:

    • Assembly of button cells in controlled glove chamber.

    You will work on training and/or company transfer projects on the storage systems unit strategic line involving HW and validation and its industrialisation. You must be capable of carrying out several lines of research simultaneously, optimising resources and maximising results.

    Your work will be geared to:

    • BMS market research, according to the application (automotive, stationary, light mobility, domestic storage, aerospace).

    • Schematic and PCB design to comply with the specifications according to the design standards defined.

    • Provide support for design validation and analysis of results.

    • Provide support for integrating design in the final application.

    • Working on the development of new algorithms for the BMS (Battery Management System) control SW.

    Requisites

    Education:

    Main functions

    You will join a cutting-edge research centre, focused on sustainability and the circular economy, which has spent years understanding and revolutionising the surfaces of things, from those we touch every day in our homes or in our vehicles, to the most demanding materials for sectors such as aeronautics and energy.

    Main functions

    We offer a PhD position in Molecular Quantum Physics, focused on the nanoscale investigation of quantum states of molecules using a combination of low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and microwave spectroscopy. 

    The research project will integrate Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) with Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), i.e., ESR-STM, to detect and manipulate individual spins embedded in graphene platforms.

    The objective is to probe spin coherence time scales, investigate spin interactions, perform basic quantum operations, and demonstrate that atomically precise graphene platforms can serve as elementary units for quantum computation.

    The PhD student, along with their research team, will develop novel strategies to implement the ESR-STM technique in fully controlled environments.

    Hosital San Juan de Dios  de Santurtzi: 

    Hospital Medico - Quiruúrgico, situado en margen izquierda de la Ría del Nervión, con consultas externas, urgencia, hospitalización, planta de cuidados paliativos, bloque quirúrgico y planta sociosanitaria y rehabilitación.



    Main functions

    -En funcíon del Departamento en el que se pudiera ubicar en fucnión de necesidades y experiencia de los/as candidatos/as, los típicos de la función de enfermería en un Hospital Medico Quirúrgico:

    1. Curas.
    2. Administración de medicación.
    3. Otros.

     

     



    Requisites
    • Experiencia en quirófano, URPA y UCSI;

    • Experiencia en urgencias;

    • Experiencia en sociosanitaria;

    • Experiencia en plantas de hospitalización;

    En caso de no poseer experiencia, se facilitará formación en diferentes servisios.
